Southwinds Growth Groups The spring semester for Growth Groups will run from April 11th to June 12th. We have 4 groups this semester. The fall semester will begin in September. See the Quick Facts below to get a better understanding of what Growth Groups are about at Southwinds. QUICK FACTS ABOUT GROWTH GROUPS |
A Growth Group is made up of 12 - 18 people who meet weekly to share, study and support one another. A leader/facilitator will lead each group. An average meeting lasts for about an hour to an hour and a half.
Growth Groups run from 9 to 12 weeks. At the end of each session, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group, or even taking a break.
Joining a Growth Group requires a 9 to 12 week commitment to attend the weekly meetings and do the homework ahead of time. Obviously, there will be times that you cannot make it due to sickness, vacation, work conflicts and other special events. Your commitment is the key to a strong Growth Group and will make the experience for everyone a better one.
Growth Groups are a time for adults to get together, connect with one another, study biblical principles, and serve one another. We leave it up to each individual group to determine how child care will be taken care of. Some groups meeting at the building may rotate group members taking care of children (children could meet in one of the classrooms with an adult). Your group leader will help in facilitating a discussion the first week on how best to care for the children.
There are two EASY ways to sign up. First, you can sign up on the "Growth Group Signup Card" that is part of the bulletin each week prior to the start of a new Growth Group sign up period. Simply put your name, email address and your group choice on the form and place it in the offering basket. Secondly you can put your name and email address on the sign-up sheet on the Growth Groups board in the back.
Growth Groups will spend 9 - 12 weeks together for about an hour to an hour and a half. During this time, approximately 40 to 50 minutes will be spent discussing the chosen topic, 5 minutes for prayer requests and prayer, and 15 to 25 minutes in fellowship. Growth Groups are about people in the Fort Wayne area connecting with one another and coming to a better understanding of what God’s plan is for our lives.
