Learn more about us...

Know

In addition to Bible studies on Sundays, we organize more personal studies with smaller groups of students throughout the week. We want to know the creator and have a relationship with Him.

Connect

God calls us not only to connect while we’re at the church building, but everywhere. As a youth group we support each other in every way that we can, whether we are playing games or having honest conversations.

Serve

We accept the charge in Ephesians 4:13 to “serve one another in love.” The Southwinds Youth Group regularly serves the church and the greater community.

Grow

We make an effort to provide several opportunities for our youth to grow as citizens of God’s kingdom, wrestling with difficult questions and learning God’s intentions for us.

About Us

The Southwinds Church of Christ offers a family atmosphere in which to glorify, praise, and worship God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The youth group of Southwinds is made up of dedicated young men and women who desire to serve God, the church, and the community. Each member of the group offers his or her talents to the furthering of God’s kingdom. In a world overcome with pain, suffering, and negative influences, the members of the Southwinds Church of Christ Youth Group strive to live in the image of Jesus Christ.

We accomplish this goal through education, fellowship, and good works. We are always looking for new people to become part of our group. We remain very active throughout the year with a full schedule of uplifting, enlightening, and entertaining activities. Contact John Wriston, the youth minister at the Southwinds Church, by sending an e-mail to johnwriston@southwindschurch.org or by calling the church at (260) 434-1656. We look forward to getting to know you and hopefully helping you get to know the creator of the universe.

Know

Every Sunday at 9:15am, there are classes for all ages held at the Southwinds building. We discuss God’s intentions for our lives as we wrestle with the difficult questions we all face daily. Regardless of your background with church, you will find that classes are relaxed opportunities to learn together. On the 4th Sundays of most months from 5pm to 7pm at the Southwinds building, we offer a class for new Christians entitled “Pivot”. We feel that before one enters in to a deeper relationship with God, it’s important to learn the basics of Christianity and face any nagging questions. We also meet occasionally off the church campus in smaller groups to discuss the scriptures more personally.

For more information on our classes and other opportunities for education, please contact our youth minister, John Wriston by sending an e-mail to johnwriston@southwindschurch.org.

Connect

Weekly, the youth group meets together for ENJOY. The concept for ENJOY is based on scriptures like 1 Timothy 6:17: “God gives us richly all things to ENJOY.” We spend time in worship and Bible study. We also play games, bowl, laser tag, watch movies, share meals, and much more as a family.

In addition to our ENJOY program, we take trips as a youth group to camps, concerts, youth conferences, and more. We feel that being removed from familiar surroundings leads to deeper connections with individuals in our group and around the country. For a full schedule of youth group events, check out the Southwinds calendar.

Serve

Whether it be raking, cleaning, painting, building, or gathers and receiving items for those in need, we are always ready to serve. We work with several incredible organizations like Sharehouse, Inasmuch, NeighborLink, and Feed My Starving Children. If you are in need of assistance, please contact us.

Grow

The Southwinds Youth Group is focused on empowering students and fostering growth both as individuals and as children of God. We want to give students opportunities to use their unique talents in service to God’s kingdom. Sadly, the majority of students leave church once they have completed high school. We want to create confidence in faith and put students at the forefront of the work of God’s church. If you have a gift that you’d like to make use of or need help finding your place in God’s kingdom, please contact us.
